5. Watch The Shrovetide Match In Derbyshire

The annual Royal Shrovetide Football match in Ashbourne draws tourists from across the world. Played across shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday, the game uses the entire village as a pitch, with goals at each end. The two teams are taken from halves of the village - the Up’ards and the Down’ards. You can see the scores dating back through history on display boards at Ashbourne library.
